Registered Provisional Psychologist
Psychology
Your mental health is as important as your physical well-being. At Encompass Holistic Health, we strive to support your wellness completely by offering care that addresses the multitude factors that affect the health of a whole person. Psychology is a collaborative effort between the therapist and the individual for the purpose of addressing mental health and wellness.
Benefits of Psychology
Psychologists study the biological, cognitive, emotional, social, cultural, and environmental determinants of behaviour. The relationship between an individual and a psychologist is a collaboration to find the best techniques and procedures to help people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours to reach their goals.
By providing a safe and supportive environment, psychologists allow their clients to openly express themselves to reach the core of the issue. Psychology sessions go deeper than just talk therapy though; our counseling experts use an array of techniques to better tailor the approach to their clients and their goals.
Since these treatments can take you to a vulnerable place, it is important to find the psychologist that best suits you and your needs. In order to help assess the "fit", our therapists offer a no-charge, no-obligation 15 minute exploratory session. Please book online or call our clinic if you have any questions.

FAQs on Psychology
No, you don’t need a referral. However, some insurance companies do require one to reimburse you for services, so double check with your provider about what you need.
EMDR is one of the many approaches that our therapists use, but that does not mean that it is the best approach for you. During each session, the therapist and the individual will assess the plan of action to best fit your needs and goals.
Everybody is different, meaning that some people will benefit from having several sessions close together and others will benefit more from having more time between sessions. The more qualified person to ask is your therapist at your initial session or during an exploratory session. Together, you will be able to determine what best fits your needs.
Each session is 50 minutes long.
You can expect a discussion about your needs and goals followed by a thorough history taking led by your psychologist. Depending on how long the history intake lasts, treatment might not happen until your second session. As excited as we are to start treatment as quickly as possible, it is important to remember that this history taking is a key part of psychological treatments.
We do not offer couple’s counseling at this time.
