Angela Lockert
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Angela is a practitioner with over 16 years of experience working in child and adolescent mental health. Her areas of focus include: ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief/loss, identity, body image, relationship concerns, self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). She has worked in emergency mental health, in-patient mental health, outpatient mental health, child protection, and in the community.
As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Angela has obtained her Masters in Nursing, as well as a postgraduate certificate. In order to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, she has completed advanced course work and has obtained clinical experience (similar to residency) in physical/health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. As her speciality is pediatric mental health, Angela has had the privilege of training alongside several child and adolescent psychiatrists, pediatricians, and adolescent medicine specialists in Calgary.
As a pediatric nurse practitioner, Angela is able to provide an in depth psychiatric assessment, perform individual/group/family therapy, formulate a diagnosis, and prescribe medications (if needed). She will also meet with school staff to ensure that children and adolescents are best supported in their education.
Angela provides a safe, non-judgemental, empathetic, and trauma informed approach in the care that patients receive. She has experience working with multiple modalities including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Theory, and Relaxation/Mindfulness. Angela feels privileged to be able to work with you, and your family in your journey towards mental wellness.
