Jessica van Vliet

Jessica is a Calgary physiotherapist who was born and raised in the city and believes in taking a personalized approach to physiotherapy. She enjoys getting to know her patients, understanding their goals, and helping them get back to the activities they enjoy.

Jessica completed her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with Distinction from the University of Calgary in 2016, followed by her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in 2019. She enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds and treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, including back and neck pain, joint and muscle injuries, sports injuries, and everything in between.

Jessica takes the time to understand each person’s unique story, lifestyle, and goals. She believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to physiotherapy and works collaboratively with her patients to develop treatment and exercise plans that are both effective and realistic. Her goal is to help patients feel better, understand their bodies, and feel confident managing their recovery.

Jessica is a strong believer in continuing education and evidence-informed physiotherapy. She is always looking for opportunities to expand her clinical knowledge and bring new skills into her practice.

Her additional training includes:

  • Functional Dry Needling Levels 1 & 2
  • Level 1 Manual Therapy
  • Level 1 Soft Tissue Release
  • Mulligan Upper Quadrant Certification
  • Concussion Management
  • TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Management
  • Diagnostic Imaging for Musculoskeletal Disorders / Authorization to Order Diagnostic Imaging
  • Foundations of Anatomical Acupuncture
  • Fundamentals of Running 1.0
  • SIGVARIS Compression Stocking Fitter Certification

As a former competitive swimmer and current triathlete, Jessica understands the demands of training, injury recovery, and returning to activity. She enjoys endurance sports and competing in triathlons and IRONMAN races. When she’s not in the clinic, she loves getting outside and enjoying the Alberta lifestyle, whether that means exploring the mountains, travelling, staying active, or spending time with family and friends. And, of course, she is always happy to stop for a good ice cream cone along the way.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing ongoing pain, or looking to get back to your favourite activities, Jessica works with each patient to understand their concerns, set clear goals, and develop a treatment plan that fits their needs and lifestyle.
