Conditions Treated at
Our Chiropractic Clinic
Acute Neck Pain
Acute neck pain can be caused by joint, soft tissue, or disc issues. Our chiropractors can help diagnose the root cause, and then based on the condition, choose their treatment accordingly. Treatments may include Active Release Techniques, laser, shockwave, Graston, and chiropractic adjustments or mobilization.
Low Back Pain and Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) Pain
SI joint pain is caused by the joint not moving properly. This typically leads to sharp pain in the lower back near the hips when you extend the back. There can also be significant stiffness. Low back pain is similar, but often involves the facet joints of the lumbar spine. Again, there is often stiffness in the muscles and sharp pain on extension. Occasionally, low back pain can result from disc injury, but this typically also sends pain or numbness into the leg. Treatments for these conditions varies, but often involves adjustments, laser, acupuncture, and Active Release Techniques, depending on the diagnosis.
Shoulder Pain
There are multiple diagnoses associated with shoulder pain. From rotator cuff impingement to tendonosis, to bursitis and frozen shoulder, our team of chiropractors has treated every variation of shoulder injury. Shoulder pain often limits your ability to perform daily tasks, and can be debilitating for anyone that works with their hands. Chiropractors are able to diagnose, treat, and provide rehabilitation to prevent injuries from returning. Our team has the tools and knowledge to do just that.
Hip Pain
Hip pain can be caused by underlying arthritis, bursitis, or tight musculature around the hip joint. Patients often present with a loss in range of motion, and a deep, achy pain. Our Class 4 Laser, Active Release Techniques, and Shockwave therapy are often enough to relieve pain and improve function in just a few visits.
Knee Pain
The knee is a complex joint with multiple muscles, ligaments, and bones working in concert to provide motion, strength, and shock absorption. Our chiropractic team does a thorough assessment of any knee injury, and can then tailor a treatment plan to help with inflammation, pain, loss of range of motion, or any other symptom that can arise from a knee injury.
Repetitive Strain Injuries such as Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow
Golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow are both forms of repetitive strain injuries. Both are typically caused by the overuse of a group of muscles, which causes chronic inflammation and tension at their tendons’ insertion point on the elbow. For golfer’s elbow, it is the muscles on the inside of the arm (the flexors) that are overused, which causes pain at the medial elbow. For tennis elbow, the muscles at the outside of the elbow (the extensors) that cause tension and pain. Our chiropractors use shockwave therapy on both conditions to improve pain and function quickly and effectively. Additional treatments, such as taping, Active Release Techniques, or IMS, can also help relieve symptoms.

FAQs on Chiropractic Care
On your first visit, one of our chiropractors will conduct a thorough history and physical exam. The purpose of the history is to determine not only the cause of your pain but what aspects of your life might re-aggravate the condition in the future.
The physical examination includes a range of motion testing, neurological testing, muscle palpation, orthopedic tests, and other methods that help determine the diagnosis.
If the diagnosis is something our chiropractors can treat, treatment will be performed on the first visit, time permitting. If further information is required, or our chiropractor feels that the condition requires emergency attention, the patient is sent to the proper healthcare professional for additional imaging or assessment.
No! Our chiropractors treat a variety of conditions, many of which do not involve the spine at all. Even those that involve spinal joints can be resolved with many different techniques. Although adjusting can be of great benefit to certain conditions, it is not required at all. Some of our chiropractors adjust 50% of their patients, while others hardly adjust at all. It depends on the case, the practitioner, and above all else, the patient’s preference.
A good chiropractor and a good physiotherapist often treat very similarly. This is especially true at Encompass Sports Therapy, where all of our practitioners provide hands-on, one on one treatments in a private room.
The majority of our chiropractors and physiotherapists have the same training in acupuncture, active release, shockwave, and class IV laser therapy.
Thus, treatments can be quite similar, depending on the condition. The largest difference might be that chiropractors are able to perform adjustments, which could make them the better choice for acute, joint-related injuries, whereas our physiotherapists receive more training in rehabilitation, which might make them the best choice for more chronic issues.
A lot of our patients actually seek both kinds of therapy; chiropractic for the acute injury, and then transition to physiotherapy as they can receive similar hands-on therapy while learning rehab skills to keep the issue from returning.
No, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor. They are considered primary healthcare providers, so you can go see a chiropractor directly without any referral from a doctor. Quite a few people regularly see a chiropractor even when they are not experiencing any pain just for maintenance treatments as there are a number of benefits of chiropractic care.
Yes! Chiropractic care for children of all ages is highly beneficial for many reasons such as torticollis, posture correction, and overall well-being as they grow and age. Kids grow at a very quick rate and it’s important to have them checked at regular intervals to ensure everything is moving and growing as it should.
During pregnancy, the body goes through so many changes. This can include changes to the low back curvature and increased tightness in the low back, pelvic, and gluteal musculature. Chiropractors trained in Webster’s technique are able to safely and effectively work out your aches and pains to help you and your baby thrive.
