Laser Therapy in Calgary

Encompass is one of the few Laser Therapy centers in Calgary with a Class 4 Laser. Our Cube 4 K-Laser is one of the strongest lasers currently on the market. With up to 20 Watts of power, this Class 4 Laser can penetrate deeper than standard lasers, delivering a higher dose of laser light in a shorter amount of time. When compared to a typical Class 3B laser, the Cube 4 creates up to 40 times more power, which eliminates inflammation and can reduce pain, sometimes instantly.

The Cube 4K-Laser:
Calgary’s Strongest Treatment Laser

Our deep tissue laser delivers 4 different wavelengths into the area at once (660nm, 800n, 905nm, 970n). These specific red and near-infrared wavelengths of laser light are used to induce a photochemical reaction within the damaged cells.

Laser therapy triggers the body’s own healing system to deliver water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. At the same time, infrared light increases metabolic activity within damaged cells, increasing the production of ATP and facilitating faster tissue repair. As a result of these cellular changes, laser therapy helps reduce inflammation and spasm, accelerate tissue healing, increase circulation, and eliminate pain.

The treatment is painless, but unlike other forms of laser therapy, you may actually feel the heat from our high-powered deep tissue laser. Laser therapy has been found to be effective in reducing pain and promoting faster recovery for many acute conditions such as ligament sprains, bruising, muscle strains, fractures, and chronic conditions such as tendinopathies, and repetitive strain injuries.

Conditions Treated With
Laser Therapy

Disc Herniations

Disc herniations can cause excruciating pain in the low back and into the leg. Class 4 Laser can help speed disc healing, but also relieves nerve pain. Laser is an extremely useful tool used by our physiotherapists and chiropractors for disc injuries.

Lateral Ankle Sprain

Ankle sprains cause significant pain and swelling, both of which can be relieved with deep tissue laser. Our Laser helps reduce swelling, quiet nerve pain, and speed up the healing process significantly.

Bone Fractures

Class 4 Laser has been shown in studies to accelerate bone healing after a fracture by 60%. It increases osteoblast activity, which are the cells that create new bone. Deep tissue laser can help facilitate a fast and complete fracture resolution.

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow causes significant inflammation and changes to the boney insertion of the extensor muscles. Laser helps reduce the swelling, but also causes cellular changes at the elbow to promote faster healing. The cells heal faster, and the pain is reduced with just a few sessions of laser therapy.

Sciatica

Sciatica can be caused by a few different sources, but all lead to throbbing or burning pain into the leg. The most common cause is piriformis syndrome. Regardless of the cause, deep tissue laser is crucial in reducing swelling and improving circulation. In combination with active release techniques, deep tissue laser can quickly resolve most causes of sciatica.

Types of Tendinitis

Laser works on all types of tendinitis, including but not limited to inflammation of the Biceps, Rotator Cuff Muscles, Patellar Tendon, Achilles tendon, and can help treat De Quervain's tenosynovitis.

Reviews

"This is the most amazing office! The chiropractors are there to help you and they are not one of those money hungry offices that try and goad you into a big package deal. They see you for the whole 20 minutes. The physiotherapists are amazing and spend the whole 30 minute appointment with you and only you. In one 30 appointment my physiotherapist ,Gaurangi, gave my shoulder shockwave, laser, cupping, grafton, active release massage and showed me some exercises. Every one of their masseuses is top notch as well. I have been to most of them and I couldn't even tell you which one is best. I have been to many other places and this is by far the best!"

"Being an adrenaline junkie and enjoying adrenaline sports it’s usually a matter of time before I need some repair. Dr Phil has been great at fixing my bumps and bruises. Last fix was high intensity laser for my broken leg to help speed up the healing process and it’s been working a miracle, back to walking in 4 weeks with no crutches and no cast."

"Great clinic that puts its patients first. I have been a patient with Coach Hill Chiropractic for more than three years. I was struggling with my old chiropractor and was looking for a change. My first appointment with Dr. Mike I knew that he cares for his patients and will stop at nothing to make sure that his patients are getting the best level of treatment possible. Dr. Mike first introduced me to activate release, shock wave, and laser therapy. Each of these treatments has benefited me in my overall health. While waiting for a much anticipated surgery, Dr. Mike was able to assist me with a variety of treatments, that keep me as pain free as possible and allowed me to function on a daily basis. While at the clinic in emergency cases I was able to see Dr. Kate and Dr. Lindsay who both are very professional and strive for the same goal which is to provide the best care for there patients. After my surgery Dr. Mike recommended Gaurangi a physical therapist within his clinic. During this time Gaurangi has provided me with exceptional level of care and going the extra mile in my recovery. Gaurangi is there for your full appointment doing one on one treatment. If anyone is looking for post surgical treatment, I would highly recommend Gaurangi."

FAQs on Laser Therapy

Class 4 Laser therapy is painless. Most people experience slight warmth during Laser treatment and usually is very relaxing & soothing. Very rarely, if you feel a very hot sensation or discomfort during the treatment, you let your provider know right away and they will immediately stop the treatment.

The laser energy is delivered through the skin to the injured area. Your body absorbs the energy and converts it into heat or mechanical energy. The body’s normal healing process takes over and repair results occur at a faster rate than occurs with conventional therapies.

Laser therapy is a pain-free and safe treatment used to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, reduce muscle spasms, promote the healing process, and provide comfort.

Class 4 Laser Therapy is useful for a wide range of conditions. These include injuries to bones, tendons, and ligaments (sprains, fractures), joint problems (arthritis, dislocations), back pain and disc problems, skin problems (wounds and burns), muscle strains/tears, and conditions such as Plantar Fascitis, Tennis elbow, Golfer’s elbow, Rotator cuff tendinitis.

Laser therapy is incorporated into Chiropractic and Physiotherapy treatments along with the other treatment methods to help promote healing and decrease pain. There is no extra charge for Laser treatment.

Encompass Sports Therapy employs all-in-one pricing, meaning that if our therapist uses the Deep Tissue Laser, Shockwave Therapy, Active Release, Taping, and Needling, the patient still pays the same price.

Licensed health practitioners who perform Class 4 Laser Therapy in our clinics are Chiropractors and Physiotherapists.
